Meet Poncho. He is one of our hardest workers and is a go to horse for our kids. Poncho came to us through donation. He has had a little bit of a hard road but is fitting in nicely at Equessense. Some of Ponchos attributes are his strength, youth and his “short lifestyle”! He is so mellow that he can handle anything that gets thrown at him, even the occasional helmet. Ponchos loves his kids with all of his heart.
This is our beautiful Arabian boy Pegasus. He is not only a challenging horse when the time is needed, but one of our most gentle rides. There was a time when we were not sure if Pegasus would make it. Poor guy had a huge abscess in his hoof and without the love and patience of the people at Equessense we would be without this valuable horse.
This is our resident Mustang mare Red Rock. Her mother was a wild Mustang that was rescued and shortly thereafter foaled Red Rock. She is a very dependable horse for all riders being used by instructions and assistants as a scout. She has been used in parades, search and rescue and crowd control. Truly an asset.
Lilly is coming along nicely. When she first came here we were not sure if she would work out as a service horse. Boy oh boy did she prove us wrong. She is now taking riders and is so careful with every step she makes. She knows when she has precious cargo on her back. Seven months of working with her has proved to be more than worth it for the therapy she will provide.
Big red is another one of our gentle giants. He is huge and is a very gifted service horse. His first priority is always his riders. He keeps a cool head, great manners and is a blast to ride. He is a by far a favorite here at Equessense
This is Geoffrey! As you can see he is a most lovable horse. He was donated to us and was previously used as a barrel horse. He is a little mischievous but is always a gentle giant with even the most fragile of riders. The smaller the rider the more gentle this guy is!!! Truly an amazing horse.
Meet Homer! He came to us as another rescue and really needing a second chance in life. Homer has some special needs of his own, you see he is blind. He does not let that get him down and is an inspiration to a lot of our riders. One of our volunteers is currently working with him and he just started taking more riders.
Meet our newest team member Fyre Walker. Fyre was given to us through donation. This horse has some spunk. He is still in training but is learning his new role here. He has started to take on some of our unified riders and is truly making amazing strides everyday.
We are always interested in Volunteer support for our rider programs, and fundraiser events.
We are currently planning for expansion of the organization, and are looking to fill several positions and to grow our Board of Directors. We are interested in adding volunteer members with qualifying backgrounds who will help strenghen and support the growth of Equessense.
If you would be interested in volunteering, or to be considered onto the Board, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
